Mudjimba Nippers program is designed to teach nippers about surf life saving, surf skills and aquatic safety.
Nippers is a national surf education program developed by Surf Life Saving Australia. The program encompasses both practical and beach based activities and includes education components that develop understanding, skill and values relative to surf life saving and aquatic safety, management and education.
Each nipper will complete a Surf Education Certificate relative to their age group and will receive a certificate at the end of the season to acknowledge their achievement.
Nippers must be in attendance for the majority of the sessions to be awarded their Surf Education Certificate and to enable participation in Carnivals.

Queensland Government has Get Started Vouchers that may be able to assist your family in Nipper Fees. Round 10 Get started Voucher program commences on 12 July 2017 and closes 27 September 2017 or earlier if all vouchers have been allocated.

Nipper Registration 2017-2018
New nippers are invited to attend one of the Mudjimba Surf Life Saving Club Nipper Information Days at the clubhouse:
5 August 9am – 12 noon
13 August 12 noon – 3pm
Please note: You will only need to attend one of these sessions not both.
Registration on Information Day
You will need to bring original copies of identification so they can be sighted in order to process your registration:
· Parent/guardians - either driver’s license or passport and a secondary form of ID (eg Medicare care card, bank card)
· Nippers - birth certificate
On the day you will be able to complete the following forms:
- Blue Card Application Forms
- Cash payment or Debit/Credit Card payment
- Membership application form
If you cannot attend any of the Information Days you can sign up online by visiting http://sls.com.au/join (instruction on how to do the Online Registration below), however we will need to see you and your child’s identification.
NOTE: Nipper Parents and/or Guardians MUST become members in order for their child/children to become eligible for the Nipper Junior Activities Program. The minimum requirement for a Nipper Parent/Guardian is that of Associate Membership.
Nipper Eligibility requirements
Age requirements – Age Groups 2017-18
Preliminary Evaluations - In order to be eligible your child MUST complete a Pool and Beach Evaluation.
Pool evaluations will be held at the Nambour Pool (Petrie Park Rd, Nambour Q 4560) on:
20 August 9am-12 noon
26 August 9am-12 noon
Please note: You will only need to attend one of these sessions not both.
Beach evaluations (Run-Swim-Run) will be held on the first day of Nippers (conditions permitting). This will involve an open water swim as per the age group.
The Competition Evaluation only needs to be achieved if your child will be participating in inter-club competition.
PLEASE NOTE: If you are unable to make one of pool swim dates above, you will need to organise your own pool swim assessment and have this signed off by an authorised assessor.
Please print the Pool Swim Evaluation Form and take to the pool for an assessor to sign off after seeing your child swim etc and ONLY scan or simply take a photo and email to email@example.com

- Follow the steps on the SLSA website to "Create account" – one account per individual
- Complete a Blue Card Application if you hold a position that requires a Blue Card - Blue Card - New & Renewal Application
- Your Nipper(s) must complete a Pool Swim - Nipper Pool Swim Assessment Form and return the form to Nippers Registrar.
Please Note: A membership will not be accepted until payment of membership fees has been received and a - Blue Card Application form (if required, please note positions that require a Blue Card) has been submitted.

How to Create an Account for a NEW Membership or Renew your Existing Membership Online
Mudjimba is encouraging online registration and payment.
If you are renewing a family membership or registering as a new member, you will need to create a separate membership account for each member (including each Nipper).
You must LOG OUT before creating an account for the next member in the family. You must use a different login name for each person, but you are welcome to use the same password, especially for Nipper accounts, so you don’t have to remember too many passwords.
Adult members (over 18) may need to hold a valid Blue Card – the form is available on our website.
Please follow the directions below for ALL family members (an individual account is required for each person) to become a member of Mudjimba SLSC.
Please do not use the 'My Family' option.
How To Register Online for a New Membership or Renew a Membership
Go to the Members Portal.
If you are renewing a membership for "1" member only login and renew.
If you have more than one member you will need to create another account for each member. All Nippers and Associates must have a separate account.
Creating a New Membership
Instead of clicking on the Login tab, click on the "Create Account" tab.
Once this page below appears fill out all the information required as it is saved on Surfguard from your original application i.e. no nicknames or known as names.
Important: Don't forget you will need to create a different account for each person (including Nippers).
Include your preferred Username and Password for future use. You will need a unique Username for each account, but can use the same password.
Tick your preferred option to have your confirmation code sent to you – email or SMS.
We suggest that you select mobile. An SMS will be sent to you to allow you to activate your account. Alternatively, an email to activate your account will be sent.
When you are done hit the "NEXT" tab and the system will confirm and send you a confirmation SMS/email.
You will then need to go to your selected email address to view mail sent to you from SLSQ, which will look like this below, on there you will see the link to that says "Click here to activate your account now" or type in the details from the SMS.
This page below will appear and you need to "Click" the Lifesaving Online tab.
This membership's page appears next and you need to "Click" the Renew tab.
Once the Membership Renewal page appears you will be able to check all the details are correct and add any extra information (e.g. Medical etc).
If you are filling in for a Nipper, you will need to fill in your name in the authority section at the bottom.
Please Note: On Nipper Accounts, the "Email Address 1" is the address that will be used to send out any information specific to a Nipper Age Group, so please ensure it is relevant.
After submitting your renewal, you will be taken to this page:
Important: Don't forget you need to do this for all Nippers and Parents/Guardians in your family.
Congratulations, you have now renewed or created your new membership, now you are required to pay your membership fees.
Paying Your Membership Fees
Your can either pay your Membership Fees ONLINE (preferable) or you can still pay at the Office by cash or cheque.

Nippers are managed by Age Managers for each age group, the Nipper Education Officer and the Patrol members on duty each week.
Each week at 7.45am, a different age group takes turns to set up and clean up. A roster is running and each family will be asked to allocate at least one time slot.
